False “left your AirTag behind”

I had an alert the other day telling me that I had left my AirTag at *address where I had parked* however, my AirTag was still safely attached to my keys on my pocket.

I have had a few of these genuine notifications, usually when I leave my house keys, with AirTag on, in my van. However, this is the only time I have had a false report like this, are they common?

I’ve had this happen while I’m driving and the airtagged item is still with me. Really annoying.

I’ve had it happen with other items (Airpods), wonder if it’s just not syncing with the item for a certain amount of time, and sends an alert. I guess it’s better than not getting an alert at all…

this happens to me all the time. It really sucks because it only happens with the AirTag that’s in my wallet. My heart drops every time I get the notification lol
