Family Sharing: does PayPal work now (US)?

I remember over a year ago when I was turning on Family Sharing that I had to switch from PayPal as my payment method to a credit card, as Family Sharing wasn't compatible with PayPal. Now I see a "Switch to PayPal" button in my billing section.

Did I miss the news that PayPal now works with Family Sharing (in the US)? Can I safely switch to it or should I expect an error message and going through the pain of re-adding a credit card?
