iCloud Family Sharing Question?

Hi all,

just have a quick question, me and my partner family share my Apple One Premier plan… currently my partner has 20GB of storage in iCloud, now if I was to remove him from family sharing what would happen to his data, would that just instantly be deleted? Or would he have a grace period to upgrade his storage.

I have asked Apple support and they said that his data would be instantly deleted and he would loose access to that data unless he had backed up to an external drive etc… is that true?

I would think the data would be deleted from iCloud, but would not be removed from their personal device.

If Apple is telling you it's deleted immediately, I would not second guess it behaves otherwise.

That person can go and buy a data plan of his own, 50GB is the next tier I believe. When you then remove him from your Apple One, the data is going to be covered by his personal plan and he'd then be OK.

I've done this several times as my "family" is >6 members and based on how I like people, I rotate them in to use the benefits of family sharing

If your family stops sharing iCloud+ or you leave Family Sharing​
