    Hi.

I have a macbook pro 13" early 2011. My fan is constantly running at over 7000rpm. The Apple Hardware test gives me the error code: 4MOT/4/40000002: Exhaust - 7890. The average temperature of the CPU is 50-58. I have done a SMC reset and PRAM reset and it didn't help. I can't controll the fan speed in SMCfancontrol and apps like that.

Do anyone know how to fix this without buying a new logic board.

The error is a fan error, not the a temp sensor error.
I checked in the service manual for your MBPro, and a fan error usually means that the fan is not working, or not spinning at the correct speed.
Going through the steps to troubleshoot that problem ends at the logic board.
But, I would first try replacing the fan. You can find a replacement for less than $20, and can be replaced in less than 5 minutes. The fan error may be that the logic board is not reading the speed correctly, and defaults to a safe (but noisy!) full speed. I don't recall seeing a fan motor error with the fan actually good. I think it is worthwhile trying the fan - might fix it!

Here's a source for a replacement fan - something to think about :D

Thanks for the reply. I have tried with 3 different fans so the fan is not the problem... Do you know if it is a problem that can be fixed then or do i have to buy a new logic board?

Try unplugging the battery from the logic board and then plugging it back in. This worked for me once.

    Logic board.
I doubt you would ever find a new board. Used or rebuilt/refurbished will be your choice
