Fan randomly speeds up

Recently my macbook fans randomly/suddenly spin very fast and loud
I'm just using web browser (Google Chrome) and sometimes Autodesk Maya
Is this normal?
It's normal, considering that Maya is resource intensive.
Chrome is a resource hog too.
If the fans didn't spin up I'd be worried.
Maya will use considerable amount of resources, whats the temperatures like in your system specifically the gpu if you have one and the cpu. Alternately if you see this as abnormal to a apple hard ware test. Also opening the mac and cleaning the heat sink and fan of dust and debris may help.
