Looking for what people are doing for fan switches? I was originally going to look at using some GE Lighting Fan Switches and the hub that could integrate nicely with HK. However, I thought I read somewhere that the Eve switch and Belkin switches can actually act as a fan switch as well? I am open to general thoughts/suggestions as well. I want to be able to control fan speed from an automation system. So I could start to set fan speeds based on temperature sensors in the corresponding rooms.

I am currently mostly doing things with HomeAssistant today, but I will be working towards a vision that is greenfield and do want to move to all HK I believe.

Lutron Caseta makes a reliable, dedicated fan switch with speed control (0,25,50,75,100) and a Pico remote variant as well but you need the hub to get it into HomeKit. If you plan on getting more smart switches, this would be a good route to take bit not sure if you want to get a hub for just a fan switch. Not sure if a smart dimmer can be used to control fan speed. I’m using an on/off smart switch (Lutron Caseta) to control an exhaust fan (one speed). I think Leviton just released a fan control switch but not sure if they got it into HomeKit. Most of their switches are supported. I don’t think the GE (C by GE?) switches are HomeKit supported either. If I’m not mistaken, it’s only their light bulbs but that have HomeKit support but that may have changed.

Lutron Caseta switches and dimmers are rock solid reliable and highly recommended. You will need the Caseta Bridge (around $100) but once you have it you have access to the full line of Caseta dimmers and switches for lighting and blinds.

How are you guys handling fans with built in lights when using that cassette switch?

I made sure to get a fan that has traditional bulbs instead of integrated LED. I use Hue bulbs in my fixture. If your home was pre wired with a separate switch for fan lights, then that will be easier to manage. Mine wasn’t so had to use smart bulbs. I’m sure an electrician can run the wires to a switch too.

Thanks. I’m pre wired with separate switch for lights but had hoped for a single switch solution.

Lutron and Aquara (sp?) make a single pole combo switch I believe. However I believe they both require hubs?...Could be wrong.

Do you mind posting a link? The only combo one I’m aware of is Maestro. That doesn’t work with the Casete hub (At least not that I know of).
