When they released V3, they didn't remove ANY of the features from V2. Everything worked exactly the same as before. But if you wanted the new features, you had to jump aboard the subscription train. they didn't screw anyone.
Amazing apps like this with 12 widgets are EXACTLY the reason apple needs to allow widgets ANYWHERE on the damn screen!
if you see it mission control to schedule your entire life, then it's money well spent.
Yeah, since v2 wasn't an IAP, they don't have any way to know you were a customer due to App Store rules. I'm sure there's a way around it but I'm also sure they didn't want to bother.Unless you delete the app and download it again. Then you're screwed.
Very impressive.Guess folk like me: professional with disposable income who values constant support over $.
Took me all of 5 minutes of the trial to decide to drop them my filthy hard earned lucre. Recently took advantage of the family plan to get my wife upgraded as well.
I have no reason as of now to not renew when that time comes.
Agreed... I do believe the devs need compensation,
power users who use and manage multiple calendars from multiple sources (and task lists)
Mostly true. The did change the separate Watch app calendar set from paid v2. Meaning you cannot change the Watch set anymore. Had a lenghty customer service conversation with them on email—where I actually have them saying it would be supported and then they took it bad. That part was bad business decision and false promise which is documented and yet...When they released V3, they didn't remove ANY of the features from V2. Everything worked exactly the same as before. But if you wanted the new features, you had to jump aboard the subscription train. they didn't screw anyone.
I'm not a subscriber, but as a former purchaser, I still love when they put out updates. It's my reminder to go back to the app store and give them another 1-star rating.![]()
Same with me. I have work calendars & reminders and home ones.
I love having my watch just tell me my work info when I’m working and then my home ones on the weekend.
Been totally invaluable already. Having all this on my Mac and being able to set up Zoom meetings direct from Fantastical - even better.
In a world where I sign off on over a $1m of software costs annually, $70 is chump change for what I get.
That all sounds rather petty and pointless. You’ve reviewed them, done your 1 star (as is your right). Move on.
That's probably to come - a clock app that has a subscription based on the hour - so if you want to have just every other hour on even days shown then it's a free app. And because the clock app is free it will be off by a minute or 3 unless you subscribe at $2.99.Again, its a CALENDAR app. Subscriptions, like Carrot Weather, where they have to pay to retrieve weather at certain intervals, I can justify paying a yearly subscription if I want to know the weather more than once an hour.....
I'm just waiting for the next company out there to charge a subscription for an app that tells me the time (AKA CLOCK app).
It's coming......
Popular calendar app Fantastical today received an update with support for new iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 features, including Home Screen widgets and Scribble.

A dozen customizable widgets are available, providing users with the date, a monthly calendar, scheduled events and tasks, and even the weather at a glance. All of the widgets are free to use, while widgets that incorporate Fantastical Premium features like conference call detection require a subscription for $4.99 per month or $39.99 per year.
Scribble support allows iPad users to handwrite in any field with the Apple Pencil and have it automatically converted to text.
The full release notes for version 3.2:Fantastical is available on the App Store.

waiting for the onslaught of "a subscription for a calendar app? a CALENDAR app?" replies. old and tired.
if Fantastical is "just a calendar app," then it's not for you. if you see it mission control to schedule your entire life, then it's money well spent.
I also love how we all spend THOUSANDS of dollars on Mac hardware and complain about being nickel and dimed for quality software. Quick back of the envelope math - I use Fantastical on $3000 worth of Apple hardware (macbook, iphone, ipad and watch). It's probably my most used app, and at $40/yr, that's a drop in bucket.
I'm truly glad that you and a small handful of others find it worthwhile to spend $400+ over the course of 10 years for a calendar app. Most of us don't.
Yep, it's a petty move tit-for-tat. Future buyers should beware. I wish I could be one and done, but new updates can wipe out previous ratings. So my burden to warn others continues.
It used to do that, years ago. Not any longer. Now it’s something that developers can choose to do, if they want.
Flexibits have chosen not do do so for quite some time.
So your continued pilgrimage to the alter of Fantastical, just to spit on it, really serves no purpose. Your one star is still valued at one star. You’ve made not one jot of difference by revisiting it time after time.
In addition your apparent need to continue this is really quite concerning. It’s a software app - not a way of life. The fact that you have decided that this is a “burden” you must suffer is, quite honest, perplexing to say the least.
There are plenty of apps I don’t like and have rated one star and then moved on. Ditto 5 stars, or anything in between. Heck, to be honest, I’m not even sure I’ve rated Fantastical myself.
Life’s too short to continue this rather silly vendetta.
