I tried an online deathmatch today, and it wasn't very fun. The map was too small, and the controls don't really work for something fast-paced.

Played around with the editor for awhile, and that is actually pretty cool. I'll have to invest some time, but I think it's fairly easy to build good maps with it.

Yup, online isn't amazing (which is what I expected) but with some sweet player created maps I think it will become pretty interesting. I started making a map today. Spent about an hour and got a pretty impressive map! Of course... it's not very well planed. The one team can easily just take off the mountain they start on in a hang glider and get to the other teams base in seconds.....

edit: Whhhaaaatttt???!!! That's a psystar ad on the bottom of the page :p.

On the contrary a friend who has it for his PC loves the multiplayer. Must be a console thing.

Interesting. I will give it another shot sometime. Last night was frustrating. The "Quick Match" feature took forever to finally decide there were no fitting matches I could join. Most of the other matches I simply couldn't join, many times for no apparent reason. So maybe I was in a bad mood already when I finally *did* get into a game. :D

Here's another complaint - it's so minor, yet so annoying:

You push START to enter the pause menu. But pushing START again will not close the pause menu and resume the game. It has to be CIRCLE!

Ok, now that's a really crazy complaint!

:D

I stayed home from work today cause I'm sick (hooray strep throat...), and I played FC2 for the better part of the day. I'm really loving the single player campaign. I actually cover most of the distances walking, sneaking in the high grass, messing with the guards and stuff (one of my first investments was a sniper rifle!). It's really slow playing, the first big mission took me FOREVER, cause just getting from A to B is a challenge every time with guard posts in the way and all. So much fun though, I'm loving every moment of it! The missions are fun, varied, and seem relevant. The environments are amazing, and the many different angles you can approach a situation (literally) make it really interesting. Great game!

Did you notice how this is one of the few games (actually the only one I know) that doesn't use the standardized XMB interface/system for saving games? Incidentally, the saving also takes very long...

Pshhh... sniper? The flamethrower is the best! Just get on the right side of the base, so the flames spread with the wind into the base, and burn baby burn! Course, that works better in plains. Barely works in the more jungle/wet areas. Hey, do you know if there is a silenced sniper? Well, I guess the dart gun is but.... Also, I heard there is a stealth suit. I know that will come in handy.

I have heard of a silenced sniper rifle, but I haven't seen it myself yet.

I've only done one of the supply missions so far though, so I'm not really an authority on weapons at this point. ;)

It seems like a lot of people are complaining about the "respawning" of soldiers at the guard posts... Am I the only one who thinks it actually makes sense? I mean, let's say one of the factions learns that one of their guard posts was completely wiped out. Do they say "oh well, bummer, but I guess we didn't need that one", or do they send new soldiers to man the guard post? To me the latter makes sense.

Ya, it makes tons of sense. If you killed at the guards it wouldn't be that fun.... Whenever I come up to one (unless I'm in a hurry) I'll scout it out, burn/snipe/shoot them all, steal a jeep and carry on.

Here's a little hint to make the game more realistic (but also harder): Turn off the music!

You know how the music gets more dramatic when enemies are nearby, and quiets down again when you got them all...everything is a lot harder without it. You don't know about an enemy until you actually see him or he shoots at you. It also just feels more realistic and immersive to me without the music. :)

The Camo suit is well worth 45 diamonds. If you are crouching, and not moving, they can't see you until they are practically right in your face!

Sounds great. And have you found a silenced sniper rifle yet? What's the dart rifle like? I kinda wish there was more information on the different guns before I buy them...

I've put almost 14 hours into the game already, and I'm only at 16% completed. :D Just having way too much fun exploring and finding diamonds, and generally just walking wherever I go. I pretty much only use cars for the supply missions.

So read the IGN head to head article and they gave graphic's comparison to the 360 version, claiming the ps3 version has some notable hitches, where the game will freeze for a second or so... Those with the PS3 version can you verify this happens ?

I've had a flawless experience so far, no glitches or freezes. This is 13+ hours into the game. I don't even notice any pop-ups or screen tearing like I also keep reading in other places. (Maybe I'm just not picky enough to see all that...however I did notice the screen tears in Assassin's Creed.)

Maybe it has something to do with different PS3 models, I seem to remember reading something like that. I have the 60GB European launch model, if that makes a difference.

dart rifle is ok but it only holds 5 darts! I also found a gold ak47 on the map rubbish really as there are no benefits over the standard ak. For any one who must have a gold colored one it's at the far end of the river bottom right of the map in nothern district. (near oasis) and hidden in some bushes.

Cool! Does the GPS help you find it? I haven't bought the AK so I guess I'll look for that. Does it stay in your uhh..... weapons house, or is it a one time thing?

Found this: "gold guns last longer and are rust resistant"

I might pass on the dart rifle then...

How about the more expensive sniper rifles? Worth the upgrade? Does one of them have a silencer option?

if you have bought storage crates then you should be able to keep it. I wonder how many more are lying around?

Gps will not help, just travel to the end of the river and search the bushes by the rocks

I have the druganov sniper and it's great. You can hit targets from a fair distance away plus it's automatic so you don't have to reload after every shot.

I used the dart rifle to silently take out all guards at a lumber camp so I could rescue someone so it has it's uses.

The dart rifle is good. I use it so much it was actually the first weapon that I didn't pick up from the ground that broke :p. There are enough ammo crates laying around to get ammo for it. I bought the grenade launcher yesterday.
