I believe this may have been removed in 13 also. How can I tell if my 11 Pro Max is fast charging? Just got the magsafe charger in prep for the 12 Pro Max, want to see if it is fast charging my 11 Pro Max. I know if fast charges with the USB-C brick and lightening chord, but I really only know because it, well, charges really fast, lol.

Is there a way?

The magsafe charger will only charge up to 7.5w on iPhones that are not apart of the iPhone 12 lineup

Hmmmm. Never knew their was a double chime for fast charging...

There isn’t. There used to be but they removed it somewhere down the road. To my original question, I assume there is no way of knowing now when it’s fast charging?

I’ve just done some tests and after iOS 14, Apple has seemingly removed Fast Charging completely from 3rd party power bricks/non iPhone 12 phones.

I have an iPhone XS Max and could fast charge before the update and since it I cannot. Same setup. No double chime and charging at 9.5w only

I’ve downloaded a Battery Monitoring app called Mister Battery Lite and it’s showing 9.5w max on a 30w Power Delivery power brick.

If apple has removed fast charging from 3rd party bricks then this is really crap of them.

If they are doing that, I'm waiting for the lawsuits from third party power adapter companies

Checking my 30W Anker tonight, because sure as heck when I checked my 11PM in the beginning, it was like 23W

I would recommend the top battery icon turn blue when fast charging otherwise be green when regular charging or black when unplugged (like now)

Similar to how iMessages are blue for Apple conversations and green for for SMS. In Apple’s world, blue is better than green :)

I agree completely, they could easily put a visual on the battery icon to designate between say <> 15v. I am using an official Apple USB Cable and Charger. No more double chime or vibration if muted.

You can go to Settings> Battery and see the fast charging symbol. In the attached image, I'm assuming that lighting bolt is indicative of fast charging.

I'll confirm this hypothesis once my battery is drained so I can check for a difference between a regular charger and a fast charger.

I always got that that bolt icon on my 5v 2.4A charger, for years i think. Don't know if 5v 2.4A is considered "fast charging", but it does charge it quite quick, since i seen chargers from Samsungs etc, that have a higher voltage and/or amperage output written on them..

The lightning bolt is just indicating charging. It only shows on one of the groups as a key. I very rarely use fast charging on my iPhone or iPad and have always had that bolt on the battery screen since the battery screen existed. In terms of fast charging, I don‘t remember there ever being a double chime for fast charging and haven’t found any supporting documents or articles outlining that.

The double chime you used to hear was possibly a bad cable that would go in and out of charge quickly because of a frayed internal wire.
