Fast Charging Question: Minimal battery charge level required?

I have observed that charging my series 7 is quite fast, as long as I start charging at low battery level. But if I put it on the charger, when battery is still quite high, lets say 50% or more, it charges much slower. Has anybody also seen this? And what may be the exact charge level below that fast charging kicks in? It is annoying when you have to wait longer to charge from 50 to 100% than charging from 10 to 100%. Especially if you just want to top it of before leaving for a long day.

Yep this is normal. The fastest charge rate will be between 0-50%. It REALLY slows down at 80%+. Electric vehicles do the same thing. This is done to help the longevity of the battery as charging at high rates at these higher states of charge are really hard on the battery.

My EV - it'll charge 0-80% in around 15 mins. 80-100% takes an additional 20-25 mins.

If you have a Kill-A-Watt (or wattage meter) or coconutBattery app on Mac - you can watch the wattage/voltage draw of your device through the charge. At around 80% the charge rate drops significantly. At 90%+ iPhones/Watches/most devices will sip watts.

Thank you for your reply. I know that above 80 Prozent charging is slower. But I think that above a certain starting point fast charging never kicks in, so it takes more time to charge from 50 to 100% than charging from 10 to 100%. According to your explanation this should not be the case.

I see what you're saying.

I've seen this on my Apple Watch Ultra too. Sometimes it'll fast charge, other times it's slow as heck for no reason. I'd say 8/10 it'll fast charge but sometimes it'll just take its sweet time (more likely to happen at 70%+ charge). lol

My gf Series 7 charges slow regardless of percentage lately. Usually 2-3 hours to complete a charge. Whereas my Series 7 fast charges all the time as long as the battery isn’t anywhere near full.

Tempted to unpair and pair as someone suggested.

I’ve seen that if it’s above 50% it’s hit or miss if it will charge fast. I’ve also found if it’s cold in the room where it’s charging it won’t charge fast no matter how low the battery is. I live In Florida so that doesn’t happen often though.
