I've plugged my Xs Max into my Apple 29W USB-C charger several times, but I'm not getting the "double chime" that I got on my iPhone X previously.

Is it not fast charging? Did iOS 12 change something? Anyone else experiencing this?

Nope it still works, I don’t think a sound makes any difference. As long as you see the charging icon. I think it’s actually faster than the X. Felt like it

whats the cheapest way for me to have fast charging?
29w adapter that supports PD on amazon and a USB-C to lightning cable from Apple.. cost me about $30-$40

But the 29 watt USB-C charger and the USB-C to Lighting cable from Apple.

You don’t need an Apple one, they let you use a 3rd party. Mine has been working flawlessly for a year.. also got a car adapter that supports it too..

Yeah I have a few USB C PD chargers lying around the house from my Pixel 2. All I need are those relatively expensive USB C to lightning cables. Thanks Apple, haha.

The iPad chargers work decently well too for a lot less money. Definitely faster than the included power brick.

WOW! I did not know that!

Excuse me, I posted what I would buy if I want fast charging.

The double ding lets you know the phone is fast charging. If you don't hear it, isn't it just regular charging? Furthermore, doesn't the battery need to be below a specific charge level before fast charging kicks in? I believe fast charging turns off at 80%. OP, make sure your phone is locked when you plug in and then check to see if it double dings.

Mine is on vibrate. I have never heard a sound before. If you have the fast charging cables it’s fast charging!

You so funny

Just checked. My Xs Max is at 44%. Phone is not on vibrate. It is locked. I plugged it in to the 29W USB-C to Lightning charger (both Apple). One ding. The Battery Icon grows large and then shrinks back.

Then nothing.

My iPhone X used to do the same thing and then, about 1 second later, do it again when plugged into the same adapter.

Weird.

I can confirm, though, that it seems to be charging pretty fast.

I've charged my Xs Max with the adapter that came with my 2018 MbP, and it charges insanely quick. From about 20% to 100% in less than what seemed (to me) 45 minutes. It might have been longer, but not much.

Ya mine does/did that too. Even with my X, nothing then a couple seconds later, or plug it in, charging then stops then starts again. Check after 30 min, it flys

my numbers

0 to 60% in one hour

60% to 100% took about 2 hours. Or just over two hours in total.

3% at 16:10 so was about 18:00 ish when it was fully charged

this is the 29w charger.

Anyone have suggestions for a compact USB-C power adapter with PD that also supports fast charging via USB-A? Obviously the dream is two usb c PD ports but that doesn't seem to be possible/exist. I just want a super compact adapter for my work trips that can fast charge my XS Max & Switch as fast as possible with an additional quick charge port for the Apple watch. If anyone has thoughts that'd be great! Could help OP too with his search for a Quick Charging solution.

Curious what car adapter you are using to fast charger? I have also used 2.1 amp to charge the iphones faster, but did not know I can fast charge in car too.

You don’t need the Apple branded charger and it only needs to be 18W or higher to hit max speed fast charging

2.4 amp will charge your iphone faster than 2.1 amp. I think I was using 2.1 amp and google map navigation, the battery will still drain. With a 2.4 amp, battery percentage will increase even with google map navigation.

I think the double chime is gone from ios 12
I too don’t hear it anymore... Neither on my X or Xs Max.

Damnnmmm thats a lot haha. I can buy any usb-c to lightning maybe it’ll save me some money.

No bro, it’s $18 for a brick and $20 for a cable but it must be Apple cable.
