Fastest Boot Drive OSX

    Hello,

    i went trough this article:

    and want to get the dual Veloci solution,
    the questions is what kind of card is he using to set up
    the raid? Any suggestions?

    Not sure if they are using a raid card or not.

    But you could get 2x velociraptors and software raid them with very little overhead because the Mac Pro is a beast.

    This setup will, beyond any doubt, get you the best performance available.

    (It will set you back several thousands of dollars, though...)

    Indeed. No need to get 24 SSDs at once, but one fast SSD will most likely be faster than most 7200rpm, 10.000rpm and maybe even 15.000rpm drives on the market.

    Because i am scared,
    seriously, usually i buy something expensive and like 2 days later something bigger and better comes out!

    Which onces would you suggest?

    Usually in SSD land, higher prices mean better performance. You've been warned.

    So a pair of the intel ones via software raid!

    Ok here is what i ended up with:
    (just placed my order)
    2 x Veloci Raptors i will use in software raid for active work files/projects
    2 x X25E in software raid for my boot drive!

    That should kick some ass!
