I haven't been on here for a long while, and was wondering if ever anything came out of the Ati x1900gt /x1950xt vs FX4500 debate?

was there ever a /real/ ATi x1950XT card for the PM g5? or was that just an urban legend?

which card holds the crown for top performance in games?

cheers, I remember back in the day, discussion got quite heated at some stage.. lol.

Hope everyone is well.

I have the X1900 XT in my Quad and the FX4500 in my DC.

I've been told both are the best, although I can't really say. I don't do a lot of gaming and the kinds of monitors I have really aren't production quality (perhaps the Cinema Displays).

Anyway, one thing I don't care about the FX4500 - it occupies two slots, while the X1900 XT only takes up one. Consequently, my 2.3DC has one less video card and only serves 4 displays, while my Quad serves 6.

Another contender for title of fastest PCIe card might be the 512MB 7800GTX - if you can find it... it last sold for $280.00 on eBay in November.

Not sure how it compares with the Ati card.

The real fastest card is whatever PCIe GPU has decent opnesource driver support under Linux. But for OS X, it's probably either the X1950XT or the 7800GTX.

hmm. there are different cards then.. the X1900gt (single slot, which i have) which identifies itself as a X1900xt , and then there is the X1950xt (which i just aquired and is a dubble slot card) also id's itself as the X1900XT apperently... trippiy.. might have to run some benchies when i finally get to Sydney to take delivery of my new PM. i know the x1950xt requires drivers to work in tiger, is that the same with the X1900gt? i forget?
