Which 1tb hard drive is the fastest in 2011 iMacs? Seagate or WD?
What are the model numbers?
here's my model #: ST32000541AS. can't find it anywhere online and it's really close to the 5900rpm one but it's supposed to be 7200. it seems quite fast though! also, it's quiet
Download the disk speed test app from the mac app store. I'll tell you the results on the WD on in a sec
112.8 MB/s write. 115.8MB/s read on the WD caviar black.
That model doesn't appear to be listed on Seagate's website, could be an Apple OEM special.
System Profiler under Hardware then Serial ATA will tell you the rpm of the drive.
WD is faster by a little bit although it's noisier than the Seagate
Faster doing what?
Honestly, they will be within a few seconds of each other, if not exactly the same, for just about everything.
Are you actually doing anything that will stress the drive to its maximum all day everyday so that this could actually matter?
