    Hi all

I'm looking to upgrade my hard drive in my 15" MBP to a faster drive. I currently have a 320GB 5400RPM in there now. I was looking at the SSD's but they're still too expensive for my pocket so I was looking at the Seagate 7200RPM 500GB drive. I was wondering if there's anything else out there that others can suggest. I'm about to buy a Mac mini for my wife so I'll probably getting 2 drives and put one in the mini. Thanks as always!!!

Heard some folks had issues with placing a 7200rpm drive in their MBPs due to extra vibration. Sounded like it was more of an annoyance than other issues.

And you are getting a iMac Mini and you are going to crack it open and add a new drive? If you are buying new, just buy a larger drive at the start.

Replacing a Mini's HDD is not a cakewalk...not impossible certainly, but it's not for the faint of heart.

We've got a old G4 mini here at work that we've cracked into a few times. I don't think the design has changed too much since then. Plus I'm going to up it to 4GB of RAM at the same time. The larger HDD isn't really what I'm after. I'm after a little more speed with the HDD. 500 GB is just an added bonus. The mini's only option that I can tell is 5400RPM drives. Plus, upgrading to a 500GB drive from apple is $200 so I'll be saving some money buying aftermarket.
