Is Airdrop the faster way to transfer files between two Macbooks given the single USB-C port? Thanks in advance for any tips.
 
Does the USB-C support target disk mode? If so, you can use the USB-C to USB-C cable and set one of the macs in target disk mode in order to get the files transferred off. Will probably run faster than Air Drop...

The new MacBook supports USB 3.1 Target mode.
