Fastest Way to Get Face ID to Make Second Attempt?

Does anyone know the fastest way to get TouchID to try a second attempt?

As in, it’s looking at you and shakes the lock, indicating a failed unlock. I have found continuing to stare at the phone won’t do anything, so I usually relock and unlock the screen. Anyone know a faster way?

Sometimes I just want my notifications to expand and not go to my home screen. Sometimes Face ID does try again but I’m not sure what triggers the second attempt.

Use the power button to put it to sleep and then wake it up as you have been? Otherwise swipe up...

Yes but that’s a pain. Should be able to just tap the screen to try again.

If you slide the homebar up a tiny bit without sliding all the way up and drop it back down, FaceID swill authenticate so you can read your notifications
