Hmm interesting...the hard driver turned out to be not recognizable by my PC! My solution was to format it using the "MS DOS File System" which actually turns out to be FAT 32. I.e. that program I recommended didn't do jack squat! Sorry for the delayed response.
To be honest, I don't know what all this jargon means, and I can't find a simple tutorial that explains all of it :S
All I know is that now that I formatted using the MS DOS file system under disk utility, my hard drive is readable and writable under both OSs.
