Faulty new mail indicator in Mac Mail

    It tells me I have 3 or 4 new mails on the red new mail indicator in my dock. Annoying... if I get new mail it disappears for a few minutes, then reappears. It just started doing this a few months ago.... Anyone seen this before, and know the fix?
