@IscariotJ, when I tried to copy a folder of files over to a server, Transmit would pop up an error telling me that the transfer could not be completed. I can't be sure anymore but I think it was due to lack of space on the server. When I checked the server, the alloted space was about 80-90% full but there was definitely enough room to accommodate the new files. I got around that by transferring the outstanding files individually. I'm guessing that Transmit didn't like the fact that some files being transfered were new and some were updates to existing files.
When I switched to YummyFTP, the transfer of the same folder of files would proceed without a hitch. It took less time as well (although my evaluation isn't based on any quantitative tests).
