My next console was a 'Cube, but that's not old enough so I'll stop there.

Have you played Star control 2? If not, it's like SF1 and SF2. I played all 3. if you haven't played SC2, you can get it for free now days. It's one of my personal favorites. The lead designer of SF worked on SC2's dialogue.
I'm hoping that Infinite Line coming to the DS is a similar type of game.

Typo? Did you mean Gameboy, not SNES? Super Mario Land only came out on the Gameboy....even if you played the actual game using the Gameboy cartridge adapter for the SNES.....
oh i meant super mario world ... looks like i haven't played it enough recently
