I liked John Oliver's special last night. I was hoping it wasn't going to be just another Jimmy Carr british guy telling americans they're stupid, but he pulled it off in such beautfiul way.

I like Nikki Payne.

Although dirty, very funny. Shes great on Video on Trial too.

I wish I got it in the States......

Unfortunately I haven't seen many American or British Comedy shows...
Well, I guess you also mean movie stars.. I can name couple:
Leslie Nielsen
Jim Carrey

:D

Got to be Dave Allen for me - the guy was a genius. His TV show in the UK was a great combo of standup (or rather sit down) comedy and satirical sketches.

Not really a comedian, but the funniest man ever to live: Douglas Adams

As for comedians... I've yet to see someone surpass:
  • Graham Chapman
  • John Cleese
  • Terry Gilliam
  • Eric Idle
  • Terry Jones
  • Michael Palin

Lee Evans
Peter Kay
Bill Bailey
Jo Brand
Dawn French
Stephen Fry
Ronnie Corbett
Alan Carr
Jimmy Carr
Russell Brand

I am into a lot of comedy and there are a lot of comedians that i really enjoy. i was curious as to who else you guys find funny or enjoy their work. some of my favorite comedians include:
Mike Birbiglia
Jeff Caldwell
Nick Griffin
Daniel Tosh
Drew Hastings
Great list!

I enjoy Mike Briglesby/Bahosky ;) and his Secret Pulic Journal.
Tosh is hilarious.
And I love Hastings crazy stories/rants.

I'd also have to add Jim Gaffigan to the list. :D Mmmmm... Bacon...

OP, are you a Bob and Tom listener?

You should really check out this troupe called Monty Python - you'd love 'em!

:D
Yeah, I could do that, but I still like much of the stuff they've done out of "the group", like Terry Gilliam's movies, John Cleese in Fawlty Towers and Michaels Palin's travel programs, to mention a few, so just referring to Monty Python wouldn't be precise, nor fair... ;)

Yeah, it reminds me of The Beatles, when a fan has much love for their solo work as well as the band's albums.

The Gilliam films are all brilliant, probably my favorite post-Python efforts of any of them...

My favourite:

Russell Brand
Noel Fielding
Michael Macintyre
Ricky Gervais
Ben Miller
Mitchell & Webb
Simon Amstell
Jack Dee

yes, i am a die hard bob and tom fan. VIP member and listen everyday!

Bill Bailey,
Eddie Izzard,
Dave Chappelle,
Dieter Nuhr (he's German)
Also Russell Peters is pretty funny.

John Belushi - rip; he was hilarious physical comedy (Jim Carrey can be funny but doesn't come close)
