My favorite apps for iPad, along with a few reasons:

LogMeIn Ignition - remote login to other computers. Cost $30, but this is business-class software. It is simple and awesome!
HanDBase - a wonderful full-featured database for handhelds and desktops. I use it to store all my logins and passwords and sync with all my devices and computers.
PCCalc - an feature-rich calculator that includes optional RPN. I'm basically a math teacher, so my students and I use this often.
Dropbox - file sync. It's FREE and I can leave my laptop at home.
PS Express - picture editing software that I can use while waiting at the airport.
Drawcast - art software that helps pass time at the airport.
PhotoPad - free picture editing software that seems to have even more features that PS Express. It is particularly good for adjusting colour.

MissionEuropa - a massive first-person dungeon-horror experience in the best tradition of Doom and Quake, though this one has a deep story to go along with the mayhem. This runs in 2X mode on iPad, but it is *beautiful*.
Sky Combat - a vertical scroller with a lot of interesting enemies, power-ups and weapons. This game hits it's stride on the big iPad screen.
Chopper 2 - a horizontal scroller with beautiful graphics and a big story arc. I also find this much easier to play on the bigger screen.
Dubble Bubble - a fun and addictive bubble popping game. I made the mistake of showing it to my spouse and that is why I'm typing this on my PC .
VectorTank Extreme - in the tradition of BattleZone, this vector-graphics game has a great soundtrack. It's fast, fun and extreme :D!

AppShopper is by far my favorite. Shows you which apps got their prices reduced, or if they're given out for free.
