As far as durability goes, I went caseless on all iPhones except 5 and 5s... Just worried ill scratch the aluminum back :(

Obviously the most "Favorite" iphone is the one you have, and the best will always be the 5s at this point.

4S

My first iphone was the 3GS. I then switched to an Android to see what all the buzz was about. I couldn't switch back to iphone fast enough and when I did it was the 4S. I still love it and will have it for awhile since I'm not due for an upgrade for quite some time. :D

The BEST is of course the 5s but I also vote for the 4 like everyone said it was a game changer for sure and if you look at the 4s-5-5s its really paved the way,I also liked the band on it along with the glass back.It also caused the aftermarket accessory market to step its game up with all sorts of cool stuff!

I think 4 was the best design - revolutionary, I chose 4S cause its 4 with the extra ummmp.

My current 5 is great but all credit has to go to the 4 for making a bold statement. I have kept my 4S inside its original box in mint condition. Its such a beautiful device to hold/look at.

I got all the iphones expect the 2G since it was not available outside the U.S, and like others said the 4 is the one that really blew me away... The front and back glass, antenna design in the phones frame, retina display, front facing camera for face time, I mean I waited in line at the apple store to buy it... But I love my 5s for sure :)

My iPhone 4 has taken me through so much that I have to say it's been one of my favorite devices to own, ever.

I got it on launch day thinking "this thing will never live up to how good my 3G has been." But I took it to every job I've had, every interview I've had to do, overseas for work, dropped it down stairs more than a handful of times, spilled drinks on it and generally abused the hell out of it. Never cracked the back case, barely any scratches on the front. Now iOS 7 is out and it still does it better than the 3G could do iOS 4 in 2010.

I'm now waiting for my 5S to come and sending my 4 to a buddy in Europe, where it'll keep up its awesome service. But there's one thing I keep thinking: there's no way this 5S will ever live up to how good my 4 has been. I guess it'll take 3 years for me to find out.

The 3G, 3GS design kind of sucked. So when the 4 came out with its sleek boxy, stainless steel band, dual glass faces it was a game changer.

Agreed. Wish they would of kept the original iPhone look for a few years.

I think the 4/4s has the best design. Love my 5s, though.

I'm more worried about dents than scratches. You can barely notice scratches on the aluminum.

I've owned them all and I must say that my favorite is the original and is the only one that I have refused to sell.

My opinion is skewed perhaps, because I've only had the game changers...namely the 1st gen, 4, and now 5s. Each made a major impact on the market. The 1st gen literally created an entirely new market that Blackberry. Motorolla and Nokia didn't have the foresight to impact. The 4 bound everything into a package that was gorgeous and set an entirely new standard. I knew professionals filming on their 4 in 2010. The 5s furthers the beautification of the phone, but takes leaps in security while minimizing impact on the end-user. My favorite is the 5s, naturally, but for its time and place....both the 1st gen and the 4 were leaps...the in-between phones were stepping stones.

The original, the 4, the 5s...

In that order.

I've owned every model. The original and the 4 were radical.

Nothing will ever match the anticipation and excitement of the original iPhone launch. Anyone who waited on line for it and got one on launch day was part of a world history event...the day mobile computing turned the corner.

The original iPhone redefined cool. Iconic in design. Radical in execution. A milestone, a groundbreaker, and a precursor all in one. It was the distillation of every computer, PDA, camera, LCD screen, and cell phone that came before it, and a glimpse at what every phone would look like going forward. It was at once the past, present, and future, in the palm of your hand.

It will always hold a place in my heart, as the greatest iPhone of all.

But my favorite iPhone has always been, and will likely always be, the next iPhone.

3GS hands down, why? it was my first iPhone for one, and to this day I still think it was the best form factor...that is until the 5c.

I have the 5s and love it, but HATE the form factor, so I can't wait until next years 6c which should have the 5s internals and hopefully be in all black!
