Opera/Lelu opening up a can of whoop-ass in The Fifth Element.

Oh, and the D-Day opening scene in Saving Private Ryan.

Hard to say... the kiss between Emily Mortimer and Gerard Butler in Dear Frankie was sweet. I have a brain fog and can't think of my precise favourite atm..

    I have a ton of them...for starters:

The opening of Amélie. Especially the shot were she's skipping the stones.

    The end of Casablanca.

I'm not going to nominate the obvious opening sequence of 'Saving Private Ryan', so I'm choosing a few others:

    • The "You make me want to be a better man" scene in 'As Good As It Gets.' As cheesy as a cheese factory, but what a line!
    • The "He'll see the big board!" moment in 'Dr. Strangelove.'
    • The final scene of 'The Apartment', "Shut up and deal."
    • The montage of kisses at the end of 'Cinema Paradiso.'
    • The fight scene with the book in 'The Bourne Ultimatum.'
    • "We're going to need a bigger boat" moment in Jaws.

I could on, but I'll leave it there for now...

    YES! Also:

The travel scenes in The Motorcycle Diaries.

I seem to be drawing a blank now too.

I might add also the "Of all the gin joints in all the world..." That's classic cinema that is.

@BoyBach: That one from Strangelove is delivered perfectly by George C Scott. He had so many lines in that movie: "You just start your countdown and Bucky will be back before you can say 'blast off!'" :D Love it.

    AND
•Ferris Bueller's Day Off (the twist and shout part)
•The Shining where he bounces the ball aggressively at the wall; staring down at the model of the maze; and where his wife reads the sheets of paper repeating "All work and no play...")
    •Pulp Fiction (the watch scene)
•Minority Report (where the scientist kisses him in her greenhouse - really creepy)
•Pirates of the Caribbean (2- the rolling wheel; 3-where the crab/rocks move the ship)
•Edward Scissorhands (snow at the end)
•Donnie Darko (the scene where the editing matches one location with the other)
•Apollo 13 (where the engineers are told to solve the problem using cardboard and plastic props)
•A Beautiful Mind (where he traces an umbrella in the stars)
•Citizen Kane ("Rosebud" falling from his hands)

The snow globe was the first reference to the scene as it establishes what was on his mind. If you only saw the sled at the end, you'd have no idea of its significance to Kane.

    Paraphrased:

"I've pulled everything out that car but the rocker panels."

"Come on Irv, what that Hell is that?? That car is dirty!!! I can smell it!!!"

    The French Connection.

This is one of my favourites too.

My absolute favourite though (today at least) is the mirror scene from Duck Soup.

Star Wars : VI Return of the Jedi

The scene where Yoda dies, and then fades away. Best there is.

Oh my god yes! Seriously awesome.

Also the very end of Gladiator, when Maximus is giving his final commands and then Juba has the last line of the movie.

edit: and the courtroom speech from Boondock Saints, definitely.

That movie was very moody. There were some fine scenes in there.

    I'd also add...
Big ~ Tom Hanks on the foot-piano.

Agree, but my most favorite scene is near the end of Blade Runner where Roy Batty dies and has his famous "Tears in the rain" monologue.

I think the the whole movie is one the best movies ever made.
