So I'm working on this massive project, and I've got a stack of CD's beside me. I grabbed Queen's "Made in Heaven" yesterday, and popped it in my player. It's still in the player today. There's something about this album that really clicks, the music, the cover design, the history. It's almost like saying good bye to a dear friend. The music is phenomenal, but it leaves me with a bittersweet feeling.

Songs can trigger so much emotion, so many memories. These are a few of the ones that mean a lot to me:

1. Too Much Love Will Kill You - Queen
2. Keep Me in Your Heart - Warren Zevon
3. Hurt - Johnny Cash
4. It was a Very Good Year - Frank Sinatra
5. Cats in the Cradle - Harry Chapin

What songs affect you in a similar manner?

For a Friend by The Communards. Memories of someone very special who is no longer with us.

Some good ones I've discovered:

Keane: We Might As Well Be Strangers
Old 97's: Salome
Allison Moorer: Mark My Word
Lucinda Williams: Ventura
Death Cab for Cutie: Tiny Vessels

Two More Years - Bloc Party
No distance left to run - Blur
My favourite sad songs :(

Guess they're not too depressing actually...

Remake of Mad World but I dont really enjoy slow/sad music to much so I tend not to listen to it much.

Who made the original? I'm assuming Gary Jules is the remake? I love that song, th piano is so awesome.

Cunninlynguists - Appreciation (remix)

Tears For Fears not a big fan of the original though it's very techno rockish with some weird tarzanish riffs and idk, the acustic fits the song way better in my opinion.

If you could read my mind - performed by Johnny Cash
- Hands down, the saddest song that I have ever heard on a recording, especially, when one considers the circumstances under which he recorded it. His wife had just died, and he was dying and in constant pain. His vision was so bad that he was unable to read his lyrics sheets. So, his son read them aloud to him before each studio session.
