I’ve had,
3G,
3GS,
4,
4S,
5,
5S,
6,
6 plus,
6S plus,
7 plus,
XR.

XR is my favourite by a long shot, followed by 6S plus.

I’ve had SE and an 8. Upgraded to get a bigger screen. My fav was the SE though. I prefer the smaller form factor. And whatever happened to small phones, i wish they would come back

Do you guys think the 4s "s" designation was privately dedicated to Steve Jobs after his death?

iPhone 4. The design was just exceptional at the time, and was a huge leap over the plastic 3GS. The weight, glass front and back, all makes you feel you're holding a quality product. Sure, in reality it's form over function (Steve Jobs was indeed aware about the attenuated antenna due to the design, but still gave Jony Ive a go), but at that time, there's arguably no consumer device that felt as good as the iPhone 4 on your hand.

The iPhone 5 surprised me as well due to its lightness (it was almost unbelievable how light it was going from the 4).

And lastly, the 6S. The design may not say much, but man the A9 is a beast, and is still holding on its own today under iOS12. Whatever I'm upgrading from the 6S will be simply because of want, not need, as the 6S still performs well and met all the necessary needs (4K video, live photo, last iPhone with headphone jack, etc).

I have to give it to the 3G as my first iPhone, the first iPhone to come out of the box with the AppStore installed, and for me the real start of Apple’s dominance in smartphones after the slightly faltering launch model.

In 2008 I’d already been using various smartphones for 4-5 years and trying to make them work, but the 3G was the phone that blew me away and made me realise Apple had a far better handle on what a smartphone should be then any of the established players. The speed and performance, the quality of the software and user interface, the way the AppStore worked and the quality and quantity of what was available very early on, was all immediately light years ahead of anything I’d used before.

Of course things have only gotten better since then, but even today the 3G gets a huge amount right.

If the newest iPhone you own isn’t your favourite, then I’d argue maybe the iPhone isn’t the smartphone for you?

Are those who are saying older devices are their faves, not just thinking of their design & neglecting to take into account the overall power gain & larger, higher res screen they’re getting from more recent models?

Anyway for me, the X, hands down.

Maybe so. The poll is not very specific about what exactly it is asking for, so people will interpret it their own way. For some that might mean, given all the iPhones you know, which one would you choose today? For others it might mean, given all the iPhones you know, which was the one you were most happy with? These questions can have different answers to the same people - i.e. someone may have been most ecstatically happy with the 4S (design, small size, headphone jack, whatever), while being only moderately pleased with the more recent iPhone they use today (too round, too big, too few headphone jacks ;-)), but they would still always pick the more recent one for today, because they realize the old favorite is too outdated to do the job now.

I’ve owned:

iPhone 3G
iPhone 4
iPhone 5S
iPhone 6 Plus
iPhone 6S plus
iPhone 7 Plus
iPhone X
iPhone XS Max

Top 3 would be

iPhone 4
6 plus
XS Max

The 3G gets an honourable mention because it was my first real smartphone.

I had 3GS, 4, 4S, SE, 7 Plus and now XR. XR is my favorite by far. I only miss 2x zoom, but I'll buy Olloclip pro zoom once available in my country.

I've owned (chronological, but not that logical):
5
4S
6
6 Plus
6S
6S Plus
7
SE
8
7 Plus (current)

And the 7 Plus, in Jet Black, is my favorite. But only in Jet Black, because that makes it look and feel like a single piece of material and that's always been the goal of iPhone design.

Least favorite was the 6S Plus, even though it is objectively speaking not that different from my 7. At the time it just felt like a thicker, heavier version of my beloved skinny 6 Plus and it made me switch to a smaller phone. Looking back at the specs, the difference was actually quite small, but whatever. :D

I'm currently leaning towards XR in a bright color, either Yellow, Blue or Red. Never owned an X-series phone before due to price and size, so XR might be a great buy. Could easily keep using my 7 Plus for another year though!

I’ve had the 5, 6 and 7 but my favourite is my wife’s iPhone SE. I love the size and design, the performance is still amazing after 2.5 years (runs iOS 12 perfectly) and the battery life is great. Plus it was incredible value.

The iPhone 5S was my favorite. The introduction of space grey seemed refreshing to me especially considering it was an S phone. There was just something about it for me. I really enjoyed it.

Had

- iPhone 3GS
- iPhone 4S
- iPhone 5S
- iPhone 6
- iPhone X

iPhone X is my favorite by far, followed by the iPhone 3GS. Those are the two models that have really impressed me! :)

5S was also very good.

Least favorite was definitely the iPhone 4S. Sure, it looked good, but I never really got the appeal of that phone. I found it thick, heavy and uncomfortable to hold. Mine was also a dud, which didn't really help its case.

So I’ve had the following in my time

iPhone 4
iPhone 5
iPhone 6
iPhone 7
iPhone XR

For me I actually like the XR the most I still cannot get over how good it is. The full screen, the great battery life. Just feels like my perfect phone.

I really liked the 5 as well, my least favourite was probably the 7. I just found it a bit boring.

Haha you’ve had almost the same as me, only I had a 4S too.

And I would say the XR is my favourite, and I too cannot get over how awesome it is.

Honourable mention for the 5, which I think at the time seemed so cool because it was “peak having the latest iPhone” and seemed like such a step forward
