As we're now officially in Summer (at least we are north of the Equator) I was wondering what everyones favourite mixed summer tipple might be.

Personally I'm quite partial to a Mojito or two. It's a rum, lime and soda drink served with fresh mint in the glass for aftertaste.

How about yourselves? What goes into your sundowner?

Nothing better in the summer than a top-shelf-tequilla margarita IMHO.
2 parts tequilla, 1 part Triple Sec, 1 part lime juice. Shake and pour over ice.

Edit: Oh, and I'm also partial to vodka and midori, 2 parts vodka, 1-1/2 parts midori, and a little grenadine once it's shaken and poured.

Margaritas are always good. I'll have one of them when the barman suffers with the Mojito recipe. Have to drink it through the salt though. Can't get the same effect through a straw :)

No matter what time of the year, I'm always partial to a Bloody Mary but when it's hot a Moscow Mule is always nice. Had some nice daiquiris the other day too... ;)

I like Piña Coladas. Especially because they can be enjoyed sans-rum depending on the occasion. :)

I enjoy Pimms in the Summer, but give me a Cosmopolitan any day!

(<-- O/T but I really ought to create a Summer outfit for little dcv)

Favourite winter cocktail:

Short glass, add 1 shot Creme de menthe and 1 shot Kaluha, top with ice and milk.

Favourite Summer cocktail:

Short glass, sama as above but leave the milk out and double everything else.

Poor man's Summer Cocktail:

1 beer, followed by another beer. Repeat ad nauseam.

Pimms! though I'm not in England this summer so I'd have to say Margaritas. Being so close to Mexico there are plenty of places that make awesome ones.

Pimms with champagne is lovely but lethal

Daiquiris particularly those with lime and mango are very pleasant.

But I think my favourite is a good caipirinha which is much like a mojito except for more puddled lime, no soda or mint served with lots of crushed ice

Small cocktail:
Cap Corse (sort of Corsican liquor) + (gin or soda) + citron syrup

Larger fruity cocktail, courtesy of St. John
BBC (Banana Bailey's Colada)
Rum, Bailey's, Banana Ice Cream, umm, other standard piña colada ingredients. Basically the best thing to have on an empty perfect beach.

I'm a big fan of Caesar's, but I can only drink a few before I get all clamato'd out, it's also usually more of an afternoon drink for me. In the evenings it boils down to;

Spiced Rum, Coke, and ice or Gin, 7-Up, and ice.

Bombay Sapphire is my gin of choice. However, I recently bought a bottle each of Le Citadelle and Tanqueray No. 10 in which I have to try.

Yeah, I've got a bottle of 8-year old rum a buddy of mine brought back from the Carribean for me that I still need to break open, but I've been too busy with my wines lately...

Rum Runner's are always good on the beach :D

1 1/2 ounces Rum (White)
1/4 ounce Banana Liqueur
1/4 ounce Blackberry Brandy
1/2 teaspoon Grenadine
5 ounces Sweet & Sour Mix
Shake with ice and strain into a cocktail glass.

Gosh, it must be tough having to get through all that wine so you can enjoy your 8 yr old rum. How are you holding up? :D That said, Cruzan Royal Estate Rum, when I have the choice.

Oh, Mactastic. A quote about wine you should hear from the source, podcast of NPR's Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, March 25th, 2006. Minute 32:30 - 33:30. Sorry couldn't upload the file, too big.
