Faxing with an Internet Phone?

I have no hard wired phone line into my house. I use Vonage and cell phones.

I do have a scanner, and I used to have fax software for my Mac, but it has been so long I forget the name of the program. What would be the best way to fax documents? Will a stand alone fax machine work over a VOIP modem (internet phone)?

I haven't ever tried faxing through my Mac other than using the fax software that's sometimes included with all-in-one printers. (Brother, HP). You could go get a cheap all-in-one to be used for faxing though. As long as the Vonage box produces a dial tone, it would work fine for faxing.
