FCE anamorphic viewer display issue

Hi,

Pretty new to FCE and I'm sure you guys have seen similar thread.

My question: Is there a way to have the viewer and/or canvas to display in 16:9? I am editing video that is set up as anamorphic in the settings, but the viewer and canvas shows the black letter box above and below the video. I don't mind editing like this, but want to make sure that when I export the footage it will export in 16:9 without the black bars. Am I doing something wrong or is it ok for me to proceed?
