Does anyone think that Apple will update FCE HD 3.5 to 4 soon? I'm asking because I've been using FCE 1 on my G4 and now I have a new 2.4 iMac and FCE runs just as fast as on my G4.........SLOW! I need some speed!!! So i'm just wondering if I should bite the bullet now or just wait a bit for a refresh. Thanks!

The reason that FCE 1 runs so slowly on your iMac is probably due to it having to run through Rosetta. Upgrading to FCE 3.5 will fix this problem because it is a universal app. While I do think that FCE might possibly be updated this year, I can't imagine there being any dramatic improvements. One major feature will be support for AVCHD, but if you don't have an AVCHD camcorder, then this won't really be an issue for you. Depending on your situation, 3.5 may already suit your needs perfectly.

Best,

I think that depends on how much you use it, if it's for daily or weekly use, you should probably buy 3.5, if you only need it on certain occasions, I'd wait for FCE4. (consider using iMovie for a part of your editing work)
