Last does FCE have any extras that will clean up the audio if it's to noisy/fuzzy? I know just make sure the audio is clean to begin with but a few older tapes/video's of some waterfalls are not the best

It has a few filters (around 30 last time I counted, Which honestly I think it was in FCE 2.0) like a 3 band equalizer and some hum and pop removers, but yeah nothing compares to miking the footage good in the first place. You should be okay, I would believe, but if the original footage is too far gone anyway, not much is going to help it from any app.

Based on what the OP said in his post, I would have said FCE should be sufficient from the editing point of view.

Mind you... I'm another person frustrated that you can't get some of the other apps standalone. I would really like to get my hands on DVD Studio, rather than using iDVD. FCE+Soundtrack+LiveType are fine for the rest in my case.

I can understand that, but sometimes it backfires. I wish I would have bought the full suite of adobe apps before I bought most of them separately and I would have saved quite a bit if I would have just bought all of them at the same time. So I just purchased CS3 last month instead of upgrading each one (but I kind of don't like that they split them up like a damn Windows Vista offering) So maybe pro app companies just feel if you can use one, you should just use them all. How much would you want to pay for just DVD Studio? (just curious) I could be wrong, but didn't they once offer it as a standalone app for a few months? Like right before FCS came out?

DVD SP was a stand alone app for years before they all got rolled into FCS. IIRC it was $500.
