FCE4 and G4

Has anyone installed FCE4 on a G4? Even though the FCE4 spec lists G4 as minimum requirement, I know iMovie08 requires at least a G5.

I am planning to edit SD mpeg2 clips from my Sony hard drive camcorder on a G4 Dual 800Mhz.

I used older versions of Final Cut Express and Pro on my old Dual 800mhz G4 and it ran pretty good, no issues.

I have imovie 05 and Apple mpeg-2 pluggin. From what I can tell, imovie imports the mpeg-2 clip from the hard drive camcorder and converts it to DV. The image quality is lost by doing so.

Is there any benefit of getting FCE4, mainly to handle mpeg-2 clips from hard drive camcorders? Does FCE4 edits mpeg-2 clips natively without any conversion to other formats?
