Hi

I have a 40 minute video I have created and want to transfer it to iDVD to put it on a DVD. Unfortunately my finished movie file size is almost 8G.
I am a newbie when it comes to FCE4 and my camcorder (Canon HF200) does not have a firewire port...
What are my options for compressng to a smaller file size with losing as little quality as possible?
Thanks, Mary

idvd will compress it when you make a dvd, you dont want to recompress the file before you put it in idid as you will lose quality

DV files run at about 13GB an hour, so the file seems about right.

Evil Santa is right Mary. You're overthinking this... iDVD has to recompress the video to MPEG2 when it encodes the DVD, so don't worry about the file size especially since your video is only 40 minutes long.

Just make sure your iDVD compression settings is set for "Professional Quality" and you're good to go! ( be sure and have something else to do for the next 2-4 hours though since encoding and burning will take forever )
