I could, but I don't use Shake. And shame on Apple for not using their own common dialogs for these apps. Nobody was expecting Color to be included, so why not wait a little longer and release it when it's up to snuff?

Probably because they didn't want to delay the entire suite for the sake of one app. Compared to Color's other issues (some of which have been addressed in the update) the un-Apple GUI doesn't rank very high, IMO. It's par for the course for apps like these. Last year Final Touch cost $25k and now we can get it for free, basically, as part of FSC2 so I think the "room to whine" factor is pretty low. ;)

If someone gave you brand new, $25k car would you complain if it wasn't in your favorite color?

The rationale, as I understand it, for the bland look and feel of Color and Shake is so that the GUI doesn't interfere with the aesthetics of the project. Supposedly, this makes it easier to color, grade, or edit the work. Whereas a "loud" interface could be distracting.
