M4 Mac mini 24GB to Tahoe 26.6.2. 500GB HDD, and 4TB Acer SSD. No other issues with this system. The 500Gb HDD is half full.
I have made a fairly hefty 4K 60FPS Google Earth Studio video, (MPEG-4, 1.47GB) that plays perfectly in Google Earth and once downloaded in QT. It imports ok into FCP 12.3 and can add to the timeline easily. When I play, it plays with no issues, although in the timeline, there does appear to be dropped frames ... black spaces instead of the frames. Like I say though, when playing, it plays fine in the viewer.
When I add a title into the timeline, and just so happens over where the dropped frames happen to appear, it then appears to drop frames when played in the viewer, where the dropped frames look like they are in the timeline. I have tried the simple basic title and the error stillmanifests. Take the title away, and the error goes away too.
I imported the same video into iMovie, and it drops frames even without titles.
Like I say, the video that I have downloaded from the Google Earth Studio plays fine in Quick Time, no dropped frames.
So what is happening and can I fix it, and if so, how?
I am trying the same video in 4k25 to see if that makes a difference, and will report back, but would like to understand if there is an issue with the FCP install or hardware... noting I do also get crashes with Mapimator (error code 5).
Any help greatly appreciated here please, as this is annoying.
