FCP4 Rendering Files?

Just upgraded from FCP3 to 4. Why do I have to render all of my files when I put them in the timeline? I have just logged them, there are no effects or modification.

Are there settings that will make logged clips editable without rendering?

Make sure your sequence and project setting are correct for the type of video you are editing (i.e. if you are editing DV make sure everything is set to the proper DV presets).

I had the same issue and Lethal I quite right. You need to ensure you sequence settings match your capture settings.

And uh, you should probably not change your system while working on a project.😉
Once I lost two weeks 'cause I had to recapture a grip of footage.😱
