For some reason, my FCPX will not open. It bounces in the dock after I click it, but it doesn't open. I right click the icon and tells me that "the application is not responding"

I've restarted multiple times and still does the same thing.

Will reinstalling the software delete all the movie files, folders, and events contained in FCPX? Or will it be saved once I open it again..

try deleting the FCPX preference files located here:
User > Library > Preferences > com.apple.FinalCut.plist and
User > Library > Preferences > com.apple.FinalCut.LSSharedFileList.plist.
And for Lion also delete:
User > Library > Preferences > com.apple.FinalCut.plist.lockfile

Its the first thing I do when FCP 7 won't open but I haven't had that problem with X yet.
