Features of 15 pro coming to 14 pro

Curious to know why the focal length feature of the Camera app in iPhone 15 Pto isn’t coming to 14 Pro. Anyone know other new software features coming to the 14 Pro like HEIF Max?

It looks like us 14 Pro owners get to enjoy 48mp HEIF Max as an option to ProRAW!

Initial tests shows excellent photo quality and has way less artificial sharpening compared to regular 12mp photos.

Also, you can still use Photographic Styles in this mode!

I take it that the portrait mode improvements and the focus point changes are not coming to the 14 pro max?
Sigh. that's what I really want.

The focus point changes work just fine on 14 Pro, both on photos taken in iOS 17 as on older ones. Of course they need to be taken in Portrait mode, which sucks - but there's slim hope that they will enable the always on depth saving, just as on iPhone 15, after all it's exactly the same camera and SOC.

There's no reason to not allow 14 Pro to take 24mpix photos too... But yeah - 48HEIF is already so much better than the over processed default! All the talk about pixel binning, neural engines etc and yet a simply less messed with image wins.

Possibly the same reason they locked the 13 Pro to shooting 1080p/30 in cinematic mode but let the basic iPhone 14 do 4K 24/30fps cinematic.

Used to be that to justify new features not flowing down to older devices, we were told that the new devices have such and such a sensor or chip/whatever.

Nowadays i think excuses are no longer given.

Yeah it sucks. Apple are kind of conning customers by not adding the features the 14 Pro can handle to it. What a company. They used to be a lot better.

It's funny given the whole mother nature bull s h i t they gave on the event, and then they tripple the efforts to make you buy a new device.

Listening to MKBHD’s podcast, he said about the new 15 Pro having new image signal processors, so that could be something to do with some of the things not being on the 14 Pro.

Yeah that's for sure, but basically anything regular 15 can do (regarding picture processing) - so should the 14 Pro
