to cwolves:

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but when I hold down the next track button when playing a movie, it fast forwards...

Yeah I had idea similar to Zeromus:

Just have a user defined click of the home button available after the double click, so that I could set mine to next track. Taking it out of the pocket problem: solved.

Flash and a real calculator

I think flash and a real calculator, so you could replace your boring and bulky texas instrument one.

maybe this was already requested but id like to be able to make my own playlists on the touch itself, they have the on the go one that u can create, so why cant we make any more?

Ability to sort playlists (eg. Album/Song Name etc. - currently takes however it was in itunes, and gets annoying when i've sorted as "artist" or "album" in itunes to find a song i want when its not sorted by song name) is my current top wish. I am perfectly happy with the advanced on the go playlists they have given us already (ability to add/remove songs etc. is a godsend)

Why is there no option for repeating a playlist. This also seems like a no-brainer to me, that you cant just choose an option in Music Settings to 'Repeat All' ...or is there something Im missing???

There's something you are missing. When you are playing a song in the playlist, and have the album art full screen with the play etc. buttons, tap once on the artwork to bring up a bar with toggles for Shuffle, Repeat and the ability to move your position in the song.

Stuff that would be nice:
- Better "on-the-go" playlist creation (can you even do it on the touch?)

You can, and it works great. Go into Playlists, then choose "On-The-Go" from the top. You can then add/remove/reorder songs, artists, albums etc. buy chosing the section you want from the bottom menu bar and clicking the (+) next to the item to add it. Click "done" when you are finished. You can then press the "Edit" button in the top right to remove or order songs, and the [+] in the top left to add more songs.

I think battery life concerns would kill most wireless music features. The remote control idea is interesting, but without an IR port it would be another wireless batttery-drainer that most people probably wouldn't use or could find a better solution for. Apple isn't usually about packing their products with features just because they're technically possible.

How about a remote control for tv's, stereos etc. There are a few on the market, not a huge demand maybe, but with the touch screen etc you could potentially have apps which only display relevant buttons for the device type.

IR port please.

iPod Touch Wishes

I wish it had bluetooth. I'd like to be able to pair it with my phone and use the iPhone headphones/ mic to talk over BT. It would also be nice to be able to send other iPod Touch users things like calendar events and contacts over BT.

the only feature i really want is the choice to have music as an alarm. I can't believe that they decided to take them out as they have been in every previous iPod (save for the shuffles) and I do like waking up to my music, not neceseraly waking up but still I really wonder why they only allow those pathetic little beeps

I would love for Bluetooth to be added so that I can listen with my bt headsets. But what would be even better than that would be support for 802.1x wifi. That is what my school uses and I cannot connect. I thought Steve said he wanted to combat that problem with the touch? Oh well, maybe he'll announce it at MacWorld.

there a two things I want...

1 - Be able to tap on the icons in the menu bar at the top. Tapping the battery status would make a little bubble drop down with the percentage left in the battery, tapping on Wi-Fi would give a more detailed view of the reception you are getting for wi-fi (also in a bubble), tapping on the time would take you to the clock etc.

2 - An icon called "Sharing". The icon would be a nice colour (apple style) with the Wi-Fi logo in it. In sharing their would be tabs down the bottom (much like there is in Music). Tabs such as....
-"AirTunes", this would connect to speakers so you can play music through airtunes speakers (a little icon would be displayed in the menu bar when this is on)
-"Remote", this would act as a remote for the appletv. This, in my opinion would be after appletv gets an update to support internet browsing. The iPod would be used as the keyboard and also a tablet thing to zoom in (using pinch and then the internet zoom's in on the TV).
-"dont have a name yet", this is basically to look for other iPod touch's and iTune's libraries that are shared. You can then listen/watch their content in their libraries.
-"Back to my Mac", maybe, not sure about this one. Basically you can view your files on your mac much like the new feature in leopard. It would be a nice little iPod touch's finder, done apple style.

I did have other ideas but I can't remember them at the moment. I would really like this. I have thought about this a lot. I might even start a thread about this idea. What do you guys think?

Multitouch could have the clickwheel "in the pocket" usability (concept)

I do not have an iPod Touch or iPhone (can't justify the expense at this point either), but based on the posts that I've read here so far this is my idea (and this might be an idea that has already been implemented or discussed before, so forgive me if it is).

(My influences are the following: Chronos Timer, which has one of the simplest interfaces ever constructed: Just 3 buttons allow you to move through dozens, maybe hundreds, of functions and modify the clock to nearly any time control that you could desire - it just involves knowing the shorthand notation for some of the different methods.)

While holding the home button and pressing the touch screen with one or two fingers and either holding or quickly tapping, someone could move through songs or fast forward/rewind. For example, Home + One Finger, Quick Tap could move to the next song while Home + Two Fingers, Long Hold could rewind the song. Potentially a "Hold" could be replaced by a sliding move, but this would be harder to do if you're walking.

This would allow a person to use the multitouch interface without having to take it out of their pockets, essentially providing the ease of use of a click-wheel provides, a major sticking point that makes many people consider the Touch an inferior player. Other gestures wouldn't be needed since it's not possible even with a scroll wheel to competently maneuever through menus or really do anything other than go forward and backward through a playlist or fastforward/rewind through a song. Also, implementing other gestures would likely involve moving your fingers in patterns or across the screen, which would be harder to do if you're walking, which would cut out the majority of time that the gestures could potentially be useful.

Two things would make me buy it in an instant (though these are both probably years off):

- Ubiquitous internet. This could come about any number of ways, through partnering with a cell carrier ala Kindle, getting approval to use Verizon's network (assuming they go through with their promise on allowing any device), or using whatever service the winner of the 700MHz auction puts out. As I said it's a long way off, but once it happens it'll really unleash the potential of the device.

- Streaming from iTunes library to iPod. There are a couple of budding services that do this already, but the interface for those services lacks the Apple polish. If I pay 100s of dollars for an Apple device, I want the Apple polish:D! Apple should integrate their own solution and make it so that browsing your Mac's iTunes is indistinguishable from browsing what's on the iPod. If the desired song is on the iPod, it plays; if the song needs to be fetched, the iPod fetches and plays it. In other words, the iPod acts more like an AppleTV and doesn't have to store everything. This, combined with the ubiquitous internet, would open the Touch up to potential buyers with libraries of any size.

- Flash would be nice, but I don't see it happening.

- Support for 3rd party apps, so you dont have to jailbreak.

I'd like to be able to stream songs from my network HDD through the internet to my ipod touch. It would make the 16GB memory size irrelevant. Just go and get enough songs or videos for a few hours till you get to the next hot spot.

But perhaps that is exactly what Apple doesn't want because they would not sell future ipods if the current model is all you'd ever need and it would circumvent ITMS to some extent. Yeah, I think Apple would try to stop that at all costs.

Too bad, it would be great.

I want the ability to edit playlists on the touch itself (add/delete, rearrange songs). Cant be that hard since you can do all those things when creating an On-The-Go playlist.

Software:
Client side SPAM filtering. (I really can't believe they didn't include this)
Mass Delete Email.
Copy, Paste
Audible calendar alarm.

Hardware:
32 gig option.
Bluetooth.
Physical volume and next/last controls

All i want is a remote for my ipod touch. Not sure if it's already out, but that was the main reason i used my psp instead of my old ipod. Another good thing would be some way for my touch to actually hook up to my campus wide wifi. It sucks that i can't even use the main thing that made me buy my ipod touch, the internet. It basically wipes out ALL apps that i can use besides the calendar and calculator.

If anyone has an alternative to getting wifi without actually buying a box from a internet provider (i have wired internet in my dorm) it'll be greatly appreciated

In addition allowing a removable SD card or similar would be great. See as its market is different from the standard ipod I think it would be a good idea.
