Yeah, really similar.

I actually stumbled across my current wallpaper accidentally, while looking for random Mac wallpaper. I remember that being the background at either a keynote where Snow Leopard was demoed or a preview/pre-order page on the Apple Online Store.

I also like that the lens flare effect between the top of the X isn't as harsh as some fan made versions of the same wallpaper.

In my version, I like the stars in the background (didn't look at the large version of yours, but I assume yours is plain black?). And I like the variance of color in the mist behind the X. And the lack of text in mine.

Yours is certainly more commercial/official looking. I am just not a fan of text on my background, unless the background is from a movie-- then the movie title is permissible. 😛
 
Here's Mine! I went up to Mt. Soledad in San Diego a couple weeks ago and took this picture of the city as the sun was setting. Reminds me of home everyday.
