You can’t specify delivery times, but you can call them today and have them hold it for pickup at your local sorting facility (if it’s nearby). Then just pick it up when you have a chance. I’ve done this in the past.

Otherwise they will attempt delivery, and you won’t be there to sign, so they’ll leave you a note and you probably won’t be able to get it until Monday.

You’ll just have to call and ask what your options are.

Like DD said above, you wont be able to tell Fedex when to deliver as this is a huge delivery. Other people also want their phones as well in your neighborhood. Many people here either took a day off or ship to office. I understand one of this option is late at this point.

One thing you can try is ask Fedex to hold your package at their local office. Here in Los Angeles, we have a Kinkos that opens 24 hours. I can pick up there and you wont need to rush home. Good luck.

From my understanding AT&T and Verizon uses Fedex as their shipper and they have set a strict restriction to not allow hold for pick up until after the first delivery attempt is made.

But if Apple.com uses Fedex (They do after the pre-order shipment dies down and the warehouse has plenty), those you can request hold for pick up right after it ships.

My phone is shipped Fedex. I see nowhere on the tracking that shows signature required. I have never had a phone not delivered because no one was home.

Indirect Signature required. Verizon and AT&T.

Had this with AT&T last year and Verizon this year - both FedEx. Last year I left a waiver form on my door and FedEx left the package. Will be doing that again this year. If they are leaving it without a signature, they just don't care/not following the rules. IE, they are held liable.

Where is this waiver form at??

Nothing on my tracking information says indirect signature required.

I tried to hold my phone with FED EX and they said no, a delivery attempt has to be made first!

This is correct. Both FedEx and UPS were given these orders a few years ago from Apple. I used to live two miles from a UPS hub and always had my packages (especially iPhones) held at the hub. Then one year I tried to get it held and they said they were not authorized to do so anymore. For a few years I would get on my iPhone at 8am Friday at the hub. Now, I just send the iPhone to my work.

Good thing about business addresses is packages get delivered there (usually) sooner than residential.

Mine says residential delivery/weekday delivery but does not say indirect signature required.

I was told that before as well, when I called FedEx 800 number. I think I ended up calling the sorting facility directly and that’s what worked. Though they may be closed by now, and it’ll be too late in the morning since they’ll have the trucks loaded and delivery routes planned...

Could be worse, at least the fedex facilities will be open Saturday morning if you miss Friday's delivery. The poor people that are receiving them from ups will have to wait until Monday if they are so much as using the bathroom when the delivery arrives.

so u can ask em to hold at the sorting facility but u can't pick it up at the facility later that evening if they miss you

I called FedEx as I have medical appointments I can't change so won't be home over day tomorrow. I asked to have the phone delivered after 6 pm as my shipping notice says up to 8 pm delivery. Fedex said they couldn't deliver late as their main facililty is 60 miles away and the trucks can't stay late-they have to get back to that facility. So they are going to have my phone delivered to the local FedEx package holding place in my town (Walgreens) and I can pick it up there later in the day. So if you have some complication on being home for delivery it's worth giving Fedex a call.

Sh*** . i work 11 am and dismiss get home 7pm , hope they deliver early morning >>

how to solve this people :D - cant call off no more vac , and got warm fire due over off day record , including 7-10 days off calling during wwdc and event in the past >> :D
