I created a free My Choice account with UPS and online it will allow me to change it so that I have my iPhone 5 held for pick up at a UPS operating facility for free or at a UPS store for $5. My delivery date is for tomorrow (9/21). However, when I click on it to be held at a UPS facility for pick up, the site says that package pick up is available 9/24. Is it not possible to pick it up at the UPS facility tomorrow? I will be calling UPS because otherwise, it would arrive until 6 or 7 at night. Has anyone else tried this?

Hold at Fedex Location option....

Here it is straight from the Fedex website. looks like they will attempt delivery first?

'Hold at FedEx Location
Not all shipments are eligible for this option.

Only the shipper, recipient or payor of the shipping transaction may make a Hold at FedEx Location request.

FedEx does not guarantee that the request can be fulfilled.

If your shipment is eligible, FedEx Express will attempt to have your shipment available for pickup by the next business day after the estimated delivery date.

Government issued photo I.D. is required for shipment pickup.

Ability to request a Hold at FedEx Location via fedex.com is available for U.S. destined shipments only.

Here's how it looks on mine...

A lot of times you can pick up from FedEx the same day as a delivery attempt, and often on Saturdays if you can't do same day. I know my local FedEx distribution center is open until 10PM on Fridays and 8-5 on Saturday, so if I miss my delivery (I'll be out in the morning), I will likely be able to get it by Saturday, I'd imagine, and more than likely tomorrow night.

Even though I missed the pre order this year. That is why I always just have my purchases delivered to my job.

If your FedEx package is coming out of the Wilmington MA station, the station manager has made it quite clear in the office that ALL iphone packages will go out for one delivery attempt before they can be held for pickup. NO Exceptions.
The station is open until 8:30pm if you miss the delivery attempt. And 5pm on Saturday

I was not home for my iPhone 4 delivery. I left a note for them to deliver it to the leasing office, but they did not. They left a note saying they attempted delivery, then I called the sorting facility and they said I can come pick it up.

Then when I bought my dad an iPhone 4S, I called them the day before delivery since I knew I would not be home to sign. They simply held it at the sorting facility (did not even attempt delivery), and I just picked it up on my way home from work.

I'm gonna call them today to do the same thing for my iPhone 5s.

LOL Just like if you were making the line at the store

I don't know about FedEx, but for UPS they have an option on their website where you can print out a form that tells UPS to leave the package at your home.

As long as you don't live in a shady neighborhood, I don't see a problem with using this.
