    Hello everybody,

I've created an iPhone icon for my upcomming iPhone app. The app brings the weekly danish tv-guide to the user. I'm looking for feedback on the icon. Please tell your honest opinion, as well as ideas on how to improve the icon.

    Here it is:
Here is a picture of the icon in the simulator:
Here is a picture where I changed the border to red based on jbennardos input:

Remember, it will not be that big when put on the device :)

    Thanks in advance,
    - Ben

Very nice, and yeah.. it's a pretty big file. Good that you started that way because the app store requires a large version of your icon too. :D

So, on to the icon.. I like it, it's clean. I get the rabbit ears for the TV. Can you include something 'Danish' in it? Might be as simple as adding or changing a color representative of the country?

    Good luck!

First off, I do like it. If you leave it as it, it'll be fine.

But...I do have a couple of suggestions

This is super anal...but the antenna aren't centered. And they're not off center enough to make it look intentional.

Since it's a guide, you might want to consider putting some horizontal lines on the tv screen to connote a listing rather than an app that allows you to watch video.

Also, try posting one at actual size on a black background. That might give a better idea of how it will appear on the iPhone screen.

The colors of my country are red and white, which I dont really think fits with the style. Besides the title of the app will tell. Nevertheless, I'll try it. Look in the first post, Thanks for your input.

Thank you. I just tryed putting some horizontal lines on the tele, but it doesn't work at all. It ruins the look of the tele having been cut out of the canvas.

Look in the first post. I just added a pic of the icon in the simulator. Thank you!

I am completely unqualified to deliver critique on your design. Having conceded that, I will now commence giving my unconstructive criticism, completely void of and unsupported by logic or taste.
The border is blue, yet the symbol is grey. The other way round would be, to my eyes, more pleasing and more effective. By effective I mean that the symbol will be more easily spotted and recognised and not associated with intrusive blue borders. On that note, the border is also quite wide - less border, more iconographic symbol.
My second point is the number of physical layers along the depth axis that your icon, two-dimensional as it is, portrays itself to be. The blue border is the top layer, under which lies the second, the stencil with the symbol cut out and which floats above the background, the third layer. Whether you want your symbol to be the lowest in rank is something to be considered, I think it would be better off saliently presented. But I would certainly hold back on evoking the third dimension as it may lead to the symbol requiring more brainpower to be conceived by the viewer, and thus be less readily recognised.
You must let me press on you my first point a little bit more. Colour is important. It is along with shape, which is in this icon taken care of finely, and motion, which you haven't at your disposal, a way for us to visually discern and distinguish objects. Don't waste it on borders.

Thank you, I really liked your opinion on colors. I dont have time right now, but I'll definately experiment with it when I have.

I might take off the border. It is otherwise very nice.:)

I my personal opinion I would loose the black outline on the blue border if you keep it. It may just be a personal thing but im not a fan of outlines unless they are needed.

Part from that tiny thing I think the icon looks very nice :)
