Feeding video from PC

I'll be purchasing a 27" iMac for the wife this season and wondering if I could use the iMac integrated display panel to view the PC desktop during the migration. I understand there are remote desktop solutions, but wonder about the Thunderbolt I/O port as a video in akin to a standalone monitor.

If this is possible, how would one change from the external PC input to the internal OSX input?

The thunderbolt port only works as video in if the input is supplied from another thunderbolt port.

Hmm, I guess that gives re-consideration to buying a mini and a Tb monitor instead of an all-in-one. 😱
