What's your address and do you leave your doors unlocked? 
Yes pure luck. Stopped in to see a buddy for lunch. Saw a sales guy I bought my iPad pro from and he said they got like 4 in. I was like huh?!? So I grabbed one for me and one for my dad.
Why does it matter? If Apple doesn't limit the "per customer" amount, he could buy 50 and there's nothing we can do about it.
Sadly Apple is just promoting eBay resell when they release products in such limited quantities like this (not directed towards OP, as he already said it's for family).
Thanks. And honestly it's very true. After I got mine and texted my dad to make sure he wanted one I asked he Apple rep if there was a limit on purchases. I assumed it would be 1. He said nope! For how scarce they are that was a big surprise. Cause you're right people are waiting for paid preorders but a Joe Schmoe at the right place and right time can by 3 and resell all.
It doesn't. I literally wanted to know why he got two. Hence "Why did you buy 2"
