I've always used a notebook with a 17" screen so coming into the MacBook wasn't anything to adjust to. Although after a year of using just it, I decided to hook up my 24" monitor to it and use them together side by side...I'm not complaining about the extra room!

As far as wanting a notebook with a bigger screen, I can't see Apple or any notebook manufacturer making a notebook with a screen bigger than 17".

If you want more space, why not just buy an external monitor?

I was with you 100% of the way, until the "chicks dig it" part. :p

yeah i find it hard to believe that if you carry a 17" chicks digs it, they probably would run away to say the least...lol!

I got used to it the first day. I love my behemothbook pro. It makes people anxious when I whip it out because it dwarfs their little 11" MBA and they tend to put it away in their man purse b/c it might wet itself.

LMAO... I just picture several 11" MBA's slinking away to hide in a 'man purse' or maybe, I've just been up to late:rolleyes:

1) Instantly. The 17" is the right size for me: easy to carry with the right bag, big screen, more comfortable when resting it on my thighs, etc.

2) I'm surprised at all the 15" owners hating on the 17" on this forum, but I'm heartily amused at the inventive ways 17" owners make fun of the hate.

1) I was immediately comfortable with my 17. Those who don't have one can't be expected to appreciate just how portable it is.

The only difference is a slightly larger footprint, and just one pound heavier. The weight is nothing, but I'm tall, thin and very athletic. It just fits my big hands better than a small laptop.

2) I don't think the haters are targeting the laptop. They're too busy acting out. It's very well known that Apple cultivates chaos and controversy. They're a polarizing company.

I don't think their behavior is Apple-approved. This was the only subjective comparison I could find on Apple's site:

http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/specs-compare.html
13-inch MacBook Pro
The high-performance notebook for everyone.

15-inch MacBook Pro
The mobile computing powerhouse.

17-inch MacBook Pro
The ultimate mobile studio.

Apple said the 17" is the ultimate; that should be the end of the discussion, right? :) Otherwise, Apple just lists the specs and lets users choose based on their needs. Maybe MacRumors Forum members could do the same?

To my fellow 17" MBP owners, how long did it take for you to adjust to the 17's size?

Took me as long as it took to open the box. It would take me longer to get used to a 15".

I work all day long on 24" and 27" iMacs, in fact just bought a brand 27" iMac a week and a half ago. Not much of a notebook user, but a new job sort of dictates the need for portability, so I bought a " portable desktop ".

Chicks dig it too, because it's more expensive.

I'm not even joking, if I don't put it in my knapsack or hide it away before I go to bed, I wake up covered in women.

He must have the anti-glare screen. :)

Yeah that's it!

Chicks prefer seeing themselves on the anti-glare screen, it makes them look nicer!

There may be some truth to that, as a photographer I see something to it.

I edit/display on both glossy and anti-glare screens, it all depends on where the final product is to be used.

I like the glossy screen for some things, and anti-glare for others.
