Feral Interactive today announced the release of Tropico for iPad, scheduled for a debut sometime "later this year." Originally published by Kalypso Media from Tropico 3 onwards, Feral noted that this will mark the first time Tropico has been ported to iPad.

Tropico is a city building game set on an island in the Caribbean, where the player takes on the role of the island's dictator El Presidente as they build up the island's infrastructure and manage its economy. This includes city building, issuing "edicts" to the populace, creating monuments, and more.
Feral mentioned that Tropico for iOS has been "redesigned and developed" for mobile devices, and when it launches on iPad it will be a premium, full-priced game with no in-app purchases. The tablet-optimized app will feature new touch controls with an easy-to-navigate user interface that Feral developed in the transition from PC/console to iPad.

In line with previous Feral announcements, no other details were given for Tropico, so we'll have to wait until closer to launch for a specific date and list of which iPads the game will run on. This year, Feral has ported a handful of games to Mac computers as well, including Rise of the Tomb Raider, Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia, and Life is Strange: Before the Storm.

If this is a full game it’s great news, Tropico is one of my favourite games :)

I want full Age of Empires 2 (or even 3) on the iPad with no in app purchases.

    That's my dream.

Full Sims 2 or 3 would be sweet too.

Unless it is too steeply priced I'll buy it even if I don't play it just to support anti-freemium games :p

I like the idea of no in-app purchases. I’ve stopped playing games on my iPad because every game seems setup just to fleece you out of as much money as possible.

I’m so excited! And a great payment model too!

IAPs not being available for family sharing is a problem for me. So even if the only IAP is to unlock, I now no longer buy.

I like the fact it's no in-app purchases. Let me pay one larger price up front, and I get the whole game, no waiting for things to complete, no lockboxes that give cheap, useless stuff 99.9% and the really good stuff less than .00001% of the time etc. Major upgrades/expansions, I might be willing to pay for.

If the app had some online element, like player vs. player, or cloud saving, or something, I can understand a small subscription fee since the server use is an ongoing fee and not a one time thing.

I doubt that it will but I hope it still supports the mini 4 because that's the device I have and the device I cannot get an upgrade for. Will buy on principle anyway, not waiting for a sale.
