    Hi,

I recently moved into a new house and I'm trying to figure out how to set up the TV and hifi in the living room.

Ideally what I want to be able to do:

-Play music from my Iphone/ipad as a HiFi
-Use the airplay mirroring on the TV
-Charge the iphone/ipad in some sort of dock

-make use of some sort of cloud storage for music, my PC is a beast and I don't want it switched on to listen to my music if I can avoid it, nor do I want to stuff every music track into a 16gb phone or pad.

Now really I'd like that to all happen using my 32inch HDTV, a soundbar or 2.1 system next to it for movies/tv and music and leave it at that. I don't really want a seperate I-device Hifi, a simple charging dock would be much better.

So.. clearly I'd need the apple TV for airplay, can it do the job of a receiving audio and sending it out to a HiFi as well? Will it work with Itunes match to give me streaming audio, or could I use Itunes match on the iphone/ipad and send that to the appletv?

I cant get my head around how it'd all work, if anyone has experience with a similar setup and has some pointers that'd be really helpful.

ATV2 will do what you need, except for the charging the ipod part. It will work with itunes match so you can stream your music to any ATV2 unit in the house.

    1) If your HiFi has an HDMI or Toslink Optical input then yes, you can Airplay music from your iPhone to the AppleTV and output from the HiFi speakers.

If your HiFi only has RCA inputs, then you'll also need a digital to analog converter (~$40).

    2) If your TV has an HDMI input then yes you can use the AppleTV for mirroring. If not, you can try an HDMI to RCA/Component adapter (which can be hit or miss).

    3) AppleTV does not include a charger for your iPhone.

    4) As mentioned, iTunes Match ($25) will allow you to store your music in Apple's cloud. Then you access the music from your iPhone and Airplay it wirelessly to the AppleTV which is connected to your sound system. Amazon's cloud service as well as others also work on the iPhone.
