I got off the phone from rogers and fido and both said that it was possible to buy an iphone 3gs without the data plan, but you would have to pay a $200 premium. However, after searching through the internet, many other people have said that both rogers and fido changed their rules and now iphones can only be bought if activated with a data plan...can anyone else confirm this? Also, if that is the case (where you have to get a data plan), can i buy the iphone with the $60/month plan with data included, than cancel the data, pay the cancellation fees for the data (i think its $200+???), and keep the voice plan only, would they still allow me to use the iphone, or would the iphone automatically be locked? I am waiting for better data plans to come out because 500mb is nothing nowadays for internet surfing.
